The following are from the parish records of Kaskaskia, Illinois (La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle), Marthe F. Beauregard, Vol 2):
Joseph Crely is a godfather on several occasions: March 15, 1761, July 17, 1762, March 25, 1767, and November 19, 1767. On February 14, 1764 and on November 14, 1766 he is the godfather of a slave. On March 22, 1764 his first wife Thérèse Godeau is the godmother of a slave, and April 12, 1769 his second wife Marie-Louise Marquis is the godmother of another slave.
On November 27, 1770 Joseph Crely witnesses a wedding.
On page 139 of Kaskaskia Records, 1778-1790 by Clarence Walworth Alvord we find a protest letter sent from Kaskaskia December 8, 1779 and signed by Joseph Crely and Charles Delisle among others. Joseph Crelis was thus alive in 1779. On June 20, 2021 the protest letter can be seen at
