TAX ROLL:

In 1821 there is a Levi on the tax roll who is not yet 21. He has 2 horses worth $100. In 1822 he is 21 and has 1 horse worth $30. He appears in 1823, 1824, and as 'Levi, Jr.' in 1826. This Levi might be Levi S. (son of Joseph) or Levi M. (son of Samuel), but since the 1850 census indicates that Levi M. was born about 1805, this Levi is probably Levi S. They are both present in 1827. If Levi M. became 21 in 1827, he was born about 1806. If Levi S. became 21 in 1822, he was born about 1801.

Levi S. is continuously present until 1837. He probably died in the late 30's. He is not in the 1840 census, and in a judgment issued July 29, 1840 against his estate, he is described as deceased. (Bk H, pgs 446-48)
