James Grinstead married Sarah C. Kinser in 1875, and in the 1880 census his wife is Sarah C. In 1900 James Grinstead's wife is Dona, and in 1910 Dona Grinstead is a widow. Did James C. Grinstead marry a second wife between 1880 and 1900?

There is no record in Kentucky for a second marriage for James C. Grinstead.

In 1860 Sarah C. V. Kinser (1) is living with her parents in Lee Co., Virginia. In 1870 Sarah C. V. Kinser is living with her parents in Knox Co., Kentucky.

Charles H. Grinstead was born before the 1880 census. His marriage certificate identifies his mother as Dana Kinser.

Charles H. Grinstead, 33, married Melvina Skinner 4 Nov 1938 in Whitley Co., Kentucky. The marriage bond identifies the groom's mother as Dana or Dara Kinser.

In 1860, 1870, and 1880 there is no Dona/Donia/Dana/Dania Kinser in the census.

George E. Grinstead married Ruby G. Van Kirk 30 Jun 1938 in Henderson, Kentucky. The groom's mother is identified as Donia Grinstead, born in Virginia.

George Edward Grinstead, born 21 Mar 1884 in Barberville, Kentucky, obtained a license 13 Nov 1913 in Vigo Co., Indiana to marry Nellie B. Smith. The groom's mother is identified as Donia Kinser, born in Kentucky.

Roxie E. Grinstead married L. H. Byrd 3 Dec 1916 in Harlan Co., Kentucky. The marriage bond identifies the bride's mother as Donie Grinstead.

Conclusion: Even though 'Sarah' and 'Dana' are completely different names, Sarah C. Kinser and Dana Kinser seem to be the same person.
