CENSUS:

In 1850 Samuel Grinsted (23, In, blacksmith) is living in the household of Silas Needham (33, farmer) in Jennings Co., Bigger Township.

WGFA:

The William Grinstead Family in America (Gorrell Shumaker and John L. N. Grinstead, 1974):

pg 134: "Went to Oregon in 1849 with a cousin, Thomas Grinstead; said to have been killed in 1856 or 1857."

COMMENT:

If he went to Oregon, he left after the 1850 census. In 1850 a Thomas Grinstead (19, Ky, blacksmith) is living in the household of Harris Haus (34, blacksmith) in Jennings Co., Spencer Township. However, this Thomas is presumably the same Thomas who in 1860 is living in Morgan Co., Indiana as Thomas Grinstead, 29, Ky, blacksmith.
