The will was signed July 11, 1853 and was presented to the Court of Ordinary in Jasper Co. January 14, 1856 by the three executors and was proved by the oaths of two of the witnesses. The legatees are his wife Tabitha, his chidren Joseph T. Reese, Augustus C. Reese, Elizabeth S. Holland, Lucien L. Reese, Louisa C A Reese, Williamson H. Reese, and his grandchild Madrah Ann Keen. The executors are Joseph T. Reese, Augustus C. Reese, and Lucien L. Reese.

State of Georgia Jasper County.
In the name of God Amen. I Cuthbert Reese of said State and County being of advanced age and Knowing I must Shortly depart from this world, deem it right and proper both as respects myself and family that I should make a disposition of the property which a Kind providence has blessed me with. I therefore make this my last Will and testament, heareby revoking and annulling all others hearetofore made by me.
Item 1st I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner Suitable to my Circumstances and Condition. My Soul I trust Shall return to rest with God who give it.
Item 2d. I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executors, hearein after named, as I am unwilling my creditors should be delayed of there rights especially as there is no necessity for delay
Item 3d. I give and devise to my beloved wife Tabitha with whom I have lived with as much Peace and guietness as is Common for Poor Mortals. The tract of land I now live on Containing Six hundred Acres as will be Seen by lines and marks round the Same and of Record. I also give her Eight negroes of her own Chussing out of the number I may have at my death, I also give her my Carriage & four mules or horses as She may Chuse. I give her Corn and fodder Sufficent for one year, & at her death or Marriage the property given to her as above Stated Shall return back and become a part of my estate and Shall be equally distributed amongst my children and Grand child (viz) Joseph T Reese Augustus C Reese Elizabeth S. Reese now Elizabeth S. Holland wife of George W Holland and her children by her present, or aney future husband free from the disposition of her present or aney future husband Lucien L Reese Louisa C A Reese and her children by aney future husband free from the disposition of aney future husband Williamson H Reese and my grand Child Madrah Ann Keen and her children if She Should have aney and free from aney husband She may have disposing the Same
Item 4th. I give and bequeath an Equal portion of all my estate notes accounts moneys Lands Negroes or aney other property to my children and grand child as above Stated with the exception of Six hundred dollars to be taken from the amount which may be due Said Joseph T Reese as his equal distributive Share of my estate on account of my having been at a greate expense in giving him a Liberal education and two thousand and forty Six dollars in money and property making in all twenty Six hundred and forty Six dollars to be taken from his equal distributive Share of all my estate.
Item 5th I give my Son Augustus C Reese five hundred dollars less than an equal distributive Share of all my estate, on account of my having been at a greate expense in giving him a liberal education and Twenty four hundred and forty eight dollars in money and property making in all Twenty nine hundred and forty eight dollars to be taken from his equal distributive Share of all my estate
Item 6th I give my daughter Elizabeth S Holland Nineteen hundred and forty dollars less than an Equal distributive Share of all my estate in Consiquence in Consiquince of having already given her the above amount.
Item 7th It is my will that all my estate of every kind Shall be equally divided amongst my children and Grand child Madrah Ann Keen. And her children if she has aney at her death and not before. Should She die without an heir, then the property I give her is to return back and become the property of my estate and be equally divide amongst my children as above named
Item 8th. I Constitute Joseph C. White Elizabeth S Hollands trustee and Tabitha W Reese Madorah Ann Keens trustee & Lucien L Reese Trustee for Louisa C A Reese.
Item 9th I Constitute & appoint Joseph T Reese Augustus C Reese & Lucien L Reese my executors to xxxxx this my last Will and testament this
