THE HENCKEL GENEALOGY:
The following is on page 21 of "The Henckel Genealogy":
4. Johann Gerhard Anthony Henckel born January 12, 1698 Daudenzell, Germany; baptized January 16, 1698 Evangelical Lutheran Church of Daudenzell; died 1836 [sic]. (See Branch II this genealogy.)
The following is a selection from page 63 of "The Henckel Genealogy":
2 JOHN GERHARD ANTHONY HENCKEL, the fourth and second surviving child of Reverend Anthony Jacob and Maria Elizabeth (Dentzer) Henckel, German emigrants of 1717, was born January 12, 1698 in Daudenzell, Germany. He was baptized January 16, 1698 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Daudenzell by his father who was then its pastor. God-parents were Herr Gerhard Sartovig, Evangelical Lutheran pfarrer at Aglasterhausen; Herr Antonius Weber Evangelical pfarrer at Bargen_________; and Hans Garttner citizen of Breitenbronn.
Gerhard Henckel emigrated at the age of 19 to America and settled with his parents on the New Hanover farm in Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County, William Penn's Province (Pennsylvania). He married about 1720 to Anna Catherine___________ who died in 1789 near Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. At his death in 1736, near what is now Eprata, Pennsylvania he was survived by his widow and five (5) children.
His widow, Anna Catherine Henckel of Lancaster, Pennsylvania remarried February 1, 1737 (St. James Church record) by Reverend John Casper Stoever to Thomas Wilson (1696-1772) wealthy land owner and neighbor. New Hanover Church records indicate two (2) children born to this marriage, . . .
Thomas Wilson, a farmer, had married previously and had one or more sons by his first wife.
Gerhard Henckel, May 9, 1728, purchased 192 acres of land from Maurice Morris of Abington, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. The location of this farm is now in Berks County (formed in 1752), one portion being located in Colebrookdale Township, adjacent to Gabelsville and Boyerstown, and not far from the original family home at New Hanover, then in Philadelphia County. (Deed Book "F", Vol. 9, page 281, of Philadelphia County) records the sale by Gerhard Henckel of 192 acres on May 23, 1736, to Thomas Potts for 100 pounds and one (1) ton of merchantable bar iron.
