WHO IS HIS FATHER:
John C. Reese was born in about 1826 in Georgia. He married in 1846 in Newton Co. John C. Reese of Morgan Co., born in about 1785 in Virginia, has a place for him in the census. Morgan Co. and Newton Co. are contiguous. There is a John W. Reese, born about 1800 in Virginia, in Newton Co., but he has a son John born about 1851. The two John C. Reeses are probably father and son.
TWO MORTGAGES:
On June 11, 1859 in order to secure a promissory note in the amount of $500 of even date with this conveyance and due one day after date, John C. Rees of Morgan Co., Georgia conveys to John Clark Rees of Richmond Co., Georgia two tracts of land, one in Morgan Co. and the other in Paulding Co. This conveyance has the form of a mortgage. (Morgan Co., Georgia Deed Records, L379, image 199/355)
On October 5, 1859 in order to secure a promissory note in the amount of $1000 of even date with this conveyance and due 26 October next, John C. Rees of Morgan Co., Georgia conveys to John Clark Rees of Richmond Co., Georgia a tract of land in Morgan and Walton Counties containing 539 3/4 acres, one Negro fellow named Austin about 35 or 40 years of age, 5 jennies, and one jack.
