PROBATE:

Probate records for Henry Hill are in Box 146, Package 22 (image 824/1340) of Laurens Co. Estate Papers. They can be seen online at familysearch.org.

On September 25, 1863 B. Hitt, Henry Hitt, and Jesse Hitt are bound to W. H. Langston, Esquire, Ordinary for the District of Laurens in the amount of $20,000 to guarantee that B. Hitt will faithfully perform his duties as administrator of the estate of Henry Hill, dec'd.

B. Hitt is in fact Benjamin L. Hitt.

There was an appraisal and sale, but there is no detailed record of the items apart from slaves. Ella Hitt bought 1 Negro boy John ($2500) and 1 Negro woman Jane and child ($2000). David Whiteford bought 1 Negro girl Martha ($1910).
