LAND:
On January 8, 1851 John S. Wray and Elizabeth, his wife, of Wayne Co. sold to Rhoda Payne of Wayne Co. for $100 a tract of 66 2/3 acres, more or less, on which Rhoda Payne was then living, out of a 200 acre tract which had previously belonged to the estate of Pleasant S. Johnson on the south side of Cumberland River. It is described by metes and bound and is on Nancy Johnson's line. John S. Wray holds the tract by deed from Joseph M. Johnson dated January 13, 1841. (Bk L, pg 170-71) See notes under Pleasant S. Johnson for more details about Wray's ownership.
DEATH:
Rhoda Payne is on the Wayne Co. tax roll in 1864 and in 1865. In 1864 she owns 66 acres on Cumberland River worth $150, 6 slaves worth $600, and 4 cattle. Her net worth is $750. She is absent in 1866 and in 1867. Presumably she died in about 1866.
