ARRIVAL IN ARKANSAS:

The birthplace of A. J.'s eldest son suggests that he was in Arkansas by 1846. He appears on the Izard Co. tax roll for the first time in 1846. He probably came with his father and his brother-in-law Henry Cole in that year. His two older brothers came later. According to the tax rolls, he is a landowner for the first time in 1859.

Edgar D. Byler III and Shirley Drury Patterson agree on his birth date. He says that Andrew was born in Madison Co., Alabama, and she says he was born in Lincoln Co., Tennessee.
