On 26 Jan 2006 in an e-mail Stephen Dow Beckham, speaking about Baltis Hinkle, stated the following:
One of his daughters, Catherine Hinkle, married Felix O. Pittman. Pittman and my great grandfather, Elihu C. Beckham, grew up together on Rocky Bayou east of Mountain View. They enlisted together in 1861 in Company K, 21st Arkansas Infantry, CSA, to serve in the Civil War. After the war Pittman returned home and married Elihu's first cousin, Catherine Hinkle.
