The following, slightly reformatted to improve readability, is from Byberry Waltons (Norman Walton Swayne, 1958), pgs 194-95:
542 JEREMIAH WALTON (6), born Nov. 14, 1784, died May 24, 1854, son of 193 Samuel Walton & Elizabeth Morris of Northern Liberties, Phila., married Oct. 13, 1808 Catherine Hitner, born Oct. 11, 1789, died July 27, 1858. This is from their bible, owned 1930 by grandson Rev. Horace Andrews Walton. The Phila. Public Ledger gives both deaths as above, Jeremiah of Phthisis Pulmonalis, late home 314 S 4th St., Catharine of Diarrhea, late home 756 S 4th St., both buried Laurel Hill Cemetery. Causes of death are from the Phila. Board of Health. Pasted in the front of the bible is their marriage certificate dated as above, signed March 13, 1616 by Philip F. Mayer, pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Phila.
Jeremiah's will, of Southwark, drawn Feb. 25, 1853, proved in Phila. May 25, 1854, named the same ten children whose births and some deaths and marriages are in the bible, also husbands of daughters Elizabeth, Mary and Catharine. Oct. 1, 1858 the exrs, George H., Samuel D. and Charles J. Walton, with Rudolph S. Walton as surety, asked permission of Orphans Court to receive money. Feb. 18, 1859 the estate was reported settled.
Phila. directories list Jeremiah as cabinetmaker from 1811 thru 1840, in 1811 at 151 N 3rd, from then thru 1824 either 157, 153 or 155 Green, 1829 thru 1831 Juliana near Green, from then thru 1840 at either 326, 238 or 328 N 5th. In 1843 he was at 328 N 5th, and 1845 thru 1852 at 314 S 4 with son Charles Jeremiah. In 1858 and 1859 Mrs. C. H. Walton was at 756 S 4 with son Charles Jeremiah, next door to son Samuel Davis.
Jeremiah accumulated real estate, and apparently had most of it when he died. In 1823 and 1840 he rec'd acreage in Whitemarsh Twp, but he and Catharine sold both in 1825 and 1840. In 1821, 1824, 1830, 1840 and 1843 they deeded Phila. parcels, of which the 1st had been rec'd by Jeremiah Aug. 5, 1820 from his parents, a lot on Delaware Third St. Dec. 4, 1858 the above exrs deeded these seven properties: (1) To Rudolph S. Walton two contiguous lots with five brick houses on S side of Paschall's Alley between 4th and 5th Sts. He deeded these the same day to George H. Walton; (2) To same a three story brick house on N side of Callowhill 16' W from W side of Franklin, which Rudolph deeded the same day to Malvina Walton; (3) To same a three story brick house on W side of Franklin 97' N from Noble, which Rudolph deeded the same day to Charles J. Walton; (4) To same a three story brick house on W side of 4th St. between German and Catharine, which Rudolph also deeded the same day to Charles J. Walton; (5) To Elizabeth W. Snyder a three story brick house on N side of Washington St. 102' E from E side of 10th St.; (6) To Rudolph S. Walton a three story brick house on N side of Parrish St., formerly Culvert St., 74' E from E side of 6th St.; (7) To Catharine H. Siddall a two story brick house on N side of Green St. between 4th and 5th. In the last three it was stated these heirs had bid at public sale, since the ten children could not agree on a division. Dec. 13, 1858 the exrs deeded to William W. Fouche a lot on the W side of 5th St. 40' S of its intersection with Old York Road, he having been best bidder.
