Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29, at Trinity Espiscopal Church at 4 p.m. for Newton Wichita Walton, 90, who died Thursday in Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Charles McIntyre, vicar of Trinity Church, was assisted by the Rev. Forrest Sheffield, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial was at the Quanah Memorial Park under direction of Knowles Funeral Home.
Mr. Walton was born Dec. 25, 1886 in Wichita Falls and came to Hardeman County in 1910 from Claude, Texas.
In the 1920s and early 1930s he was a sales representative for a Quanah wholesale grocery company. In more recent years he served the city of Quanah as corporation court judge.
He was married to Hattie Anderson at Vernon in 1954.
Survivors are his wife Hattie of Quanah; threee daughters, Mrs. Juanita Garry of Lake George, N. Y., Mrs. Norveline Donafhey, Tyler, Texas, and Mrs. Hattie Huff of Buena Park, Calif.; one son, James Brooks, Welbourne, Florida; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harold Wey, Arthur Wey, Foster Fitzpatrick, Neil Eggleston, Logan Hysmith, and L. E. Rose.

QUANAH - Hattie M. Walton, 100, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, in Crowell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clinton Young officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park.
Mrs. Walton was born Oct. 4, 1903, in Vernon. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Garry of Lake George N.C., Norveline Brooks of Anaheim, Calif., and Hattie Duff of Buena Park, Calif.; a son, James Brooks of Quanah; a sister, Mrs. M.A. Nixon of Vernon; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Salvation Army.
