General Notes: Wife - Elizabeth "Betsey" Hitt
Elizabeth's husband Russell Vaughan is probably a relative of her brother-in-law Lyster Baughn.
Elizabeth is mentioned in 1825 in her father's will. The wording of the will indicates that her inheritance is to be held in trust and that during her lifetime she will only receive an annual interest payment and that upon her death the principal will be divided among her children. It may be that her father did not trust her husband. The following deed has a similar theme.
On December 25, 1832 Elizabeth's brother John Hitt conveyed to her son William Vaughan a certain Negro woman Esther and her two children for the benefit of Elizabeth. See notes under John Hitt.
CHILDREN:
There is a list of Elizabeth Vaughan's children in a deed of July 18, 1836 from James Vaughan to Joel Hitt. See notes under Joel Hitt.
