GERMANNA RECORD NO. 1, pg 31:

Sarah Hitt b. Sept. 9, 1761, m. James Morrison, Fauquier Marriage Bonds, Vol. III, p. 76, show the bond of Sally Hitt and James Morrison June 2, 1808, with her brother, Benjamin Hitt, signing the bond.

MANUMISSION of SLAVES:

On January 20, 1803 Sarah Hitt of Fauquier Co. manumitted one Negro woman named Frances immediately, one Negro woman named Jude and all future offspring after September 15, 1805, one Negro girl named Chloe and all her future offspring after February 7, 1813 and one Negro boy named Charles after June 15, 1828. Witnesses: Daniel Hitt, Benjamin Hitt. (Fauquier Co. Deed Records 15/264)

MARRIAGE:

Sarah Hitt was 47 when she married. The 1810 census suggests that her husband had children by a previous marriage.
