MARRIAGE:

The following document was found in Fauquier Co., Virginia by Jeff Phillips. Susan's father is dead, and she does not have a brother named William. William Hitt is probably her uncle.

Palmer to the Govenor -- M. Bond

Fauquier County to wit, Wm. Hitt __ this day personally appeared before me and made oath, that the within named Susan Hitt is upwards of 21 years of age __ Given under my hand this 27th day of April 1818 __

BIRTH YEAR:

The date of Susannah's birth is January 7, 1794 according to Memorial # 71056689 in Find a Grave. '94' is unreadable in the photograph. The birth date of her brother Thaddeus N. Hitt is clearly readable in the photograph of his tombstone. It is November 19, 1793. They can't both be correct. The 1870, 1860, and 1850 censuses suggest that Susannah was born in 1795, 1795, and 1794, respectively. I am going to guess '92'.
