HISTORY OF THE DESCENDANTS OF ELDER JOHN STRONG OF NORTHAMPTON, MASS. (Benjamin W. Dwight, 1871), Vol II, pg 772:
[3d Gen.]
14260-1. iii. Jedediah Strong, Jr., b. Aug. 7, 1667, m. Nov. 8, 1688, Abiah (also called Abijah) Ingersoll b. Aug. 24, 1663 (dau. of John Ingersoll first of Hartford then of Northampton, and afterwards of Westfield, Mass., and Abigail Bascom, his second wife). He was a farmer at Northampton until Aug. 24. 1696, when he removed to Lebanon, Ct., when there were but four white families in it. He was killed by Indians at Wood Creek, N. Y., Oct. 12, 1709, aged 42. She d. Nov. 20, 1732, aged 69. No one's name appears oftener on the early records of Lebanon, as a committee-man on various matters of public interest. The following letter written to his son Stephen (then aged 19), a few months previous to his death, will interest his descendants:

"Son Stephen:
"Hearty love to you, hoping you are well; as I am, blessed be God for it. I have nothing of news to write to you. I wrote a letter to your mother yesterday, and therein all the news I have: but yet I gladly take the opportunity to write a word to you, as a testification of my love to you. I hope you will be mindful of the advice I left you. Be tender of, and obedient to your mother. I hope you take care of affairs at home; they are but little in my thoughts; but I daily mind you, and God forbid that I should cease to pray for you daily. I want such opportunity for it as I had at home. Dear son, pray for yourself and for me also. Give my respects to your mother. What I here say to you, I herein say to the rest of my dear ones. Also my affectionate love to my dear daughter. Naught else.
I remain your affectionate father,
Jedediah Strong."
July 19, 1709.
