Laid to Rest

Uncle Johnny James died at his home at Paskenta last Sunday night, December 29th. Mr. James came to California in 1850 and worked in the mines near Sacramento for a short time, then went to Sacramento City and managed a livery business. He went back to Missouri in 1851 and returned to California in 1853 with a band of cattle and settled in Tehama county on the land where Henleyville now stands; he again went back to Missouri in 1854 and married his second wife, returning the same year to California and settled at Newville. He has lived in Colusa and Tehama counties ever since. He was laid to rest at Newville December 31st.
The deceased was aged 85 years and 14 days. He leaves a wife and four children, four brothers and one sister to mourn him \endash "Orland News".
