BEDFORD CO., VIRGINIA PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LIST:
Jordan Reese is in the Bedford Co., Virginia personal property tax list for the first time in 1797 and is there continuously until 1813. Initially he has one horse or none, and then in 1803 and later he usually has 3. In 1809 he has 7. In 1809, 1811, and 1812 he has one slave and in 1803 he has two. In 1798 he has a stud horse. The rate of covering is $3.00. Jordan is always in the southern district.
WHO IS HIS FATHER?
Jordan is in the tax list for the first time in 1797. If he became 21 in that year, he was born in about 1776. Sloman Reese is available to be his father, and Jordan is the right age to be his son. John Reese named one of his sons Jordan. Sarah Reese's son William named one of his sons Jordan. Jordan's entry in the tax list is often contiguous with John's.
WHO IS HIS WIFE?
The will of Littleberry Leftwich of Bedford Co., Virginia mentions his daughter Polly Reese. Her obituary indicates that she was born in 1779. Two Bedford Co. deeds identify Jordan's wife as Polly.
LAND in BEDFORD CO., VIRGINIA:
On October 2, 1798 Joseph Hibbs of Nelson Co., Kentucke[sic] sells two tracts of land in Bedford Co. on the waters of Goose Creek to Jordan Reece of Bedford Co. for "Eighty pounds lawfull money of Virginia". One tract contains 102 acres and the other contains 49 acres. Both are described by metes and bounds. LiBry Leftwich is one of the witnesses. On October 24, 1803 Jourdan Reese and Polley Reese, his wife, of Bedford Co. sell the same two tracts to John Haynes & Co. of Bedford Co. for 155 pounds current money of Virginia. (Bedford Co., Virginia Deed Records, Book 11, pg 882, image 472/547 at familysearch.org)

LAND in LINCOLN CO., TENNESSEE:
On April 9, 1822 Thomas Talbot of Davidson Co. sells to Jordan Reese of Lincoln Co. for $750 a tract of 600 acres in Lincoln Co. on the waters of the east fork of Cain Creek, the same being part of a tract of 1492 acres granted by the State to Thomas Talbot on November 20, 1813. On October 1, 1823 Jordan Reese of Lincoln Co. conveys to Henry Moores of the same place for the love and affection he has for said Henry Moores and his wife Fanny Moores, she being the daughter of said Jordan Reese, a tract of 100 acres, more or less, in Lincoln Co. on the west fork of Norris's Creek of Elk River, being part of a 475-acre tract purchased by said Reese from Wm. Pillw[sic]. The tract is described by metes and bounds and includes the cabins and improvements where said Moores now lives. Witnesses are R. H. Boone and Sarah W. Hoores. On October 1, 1823 Jordan Reese of Lincoln Co. conveys to Reuben H. Boone of the same place for the love and affection he has for said Reuben H. and his wife Finetta Boone, she being the daughter of said Jordan Reese, a tract of 110 acres, more or less, in Lincoln Co. on the west fork of Norris's Creek of Elk River, being a 50-acre entry made in the name of said Reece and part of a 475-acre tract purchased by said Reese from William Pillow. The following will of Jordan Reese of Lincoln Co., Tennessee can be seen at Familysearch.org, "Wills, v. 1-2 1809-1863", film # 968737, Vol 1, pgs 47-50, images 304-05/702. Omitted details are indicated by ". . .". A codicil signed 19 Feb 1830 indicates that the following will was signed 16 Feb 1830. The month is missing in the text of the will. The will and the codicil were recorded 17 May 1830.
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Polly Reese. I will & bequeath the tract of land on which I now live to my wife Polly Reese during her life containing two hundred and sixty one acres, also the following negroe slaves, Peter, Simon Tinah, Betsy, my sorrel horse grey mare Pheby & riding gig my waggon and all my stock consisting of cattle hogs & sheep and all my farming tools. also all my house hold & kitchen furniture, the side board at her death I give to my son Joel Reese, and one bed bedstead & furniture when may need it also one bed bedstead and furniture to my son /grandson Jordon R. Moore when he becomes of lawful age. I do give & bequeath to daughter Fanny H. Moore's three children William H. Moore, Polly L. Moore and Jordon R. Moore the north part of a certain tract or parcel of land on the waters of cave Creek to be divided as follows . . . Also two negroe slaves Tabby and her child Charity and their increase to said children which said land and negroes & their increase being considered the legacy of my daughter Fanny H. Moore dec'd. I further bequeath to Jordon R. Moore a horse & saddle & bridle to be worth one hundred dollars to be given him when he becomes of lawful age and a silver watch which is now in the possession of Littleberry Reese. Also I bequeath to my daughter Finnetta W. Boone in addition to what I have already given her by deed of conveyance a certain entry of land containing sixty eight acres of land adjoining the south east part of the land originally given also a negroe woman named Caroline & her child Isaac and a boy named Squire
Also I will and bequeath to my son Littleberry L. Reese the south division of the land on Cave Creek on which he now lives runing as above stated in my deed of gift to my grand children, also my negroe woman Celey with her increase, and my negroe boy Winchester, one bay mare which he has now in possession also my sliver watch.
Also I will & bequeath to my son Joel L. Reese the tract of land on which I now live at the death of my wife Polly Reese, and if he should marry . . .
It is furthermore my will that at the death of my wife Polly Reese that all the property then remaining on the premises to be sold and equally divided between my legal heirs.
It is furthermore my will & request that she educate my son Joel L. Reese out of the proceeds of the plantation equal to the education of my other Children.
And lastly I hereby appoint my wife Polly Reese my executrix & Littleberry L. Reese & James Fulton executors of this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the sixteenth day of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty.

OBITUARY.
Died at the residence of her son, Joel L. Reece, near Rienzi, Miss., on the 2nd of October, 1857, after a lingering and painful illness, Mrs. POLLY REECE, in the 79th year of her age.
She was born in Bedford county, Va., during the stormy period of the Revolution--was a daughter of Col. Littleberry Leftwich, and inherited all that devotion to and love of country that characterized her ancestry, not only through the war of Independence, but through all subsequent wars.
