Joe W. McEntire
Dies at Ballinger
BALLINGER, July 9.-(Spl.)---
Joe W. McEntire, 74-year-old retired lumberman, died Monday afternoon at the home of his son, Tom McEntire, in Ballinger. He had been ill for the past week.
Funeral will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Newby-Davis funeral home, with the Rev. Floyd Johnson of the First Methodist church in Coleman in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
A native of Missouri, McEntire lived in Fort Worth for a number of years, then moved to Balinger in 1926.
He is survived by two sons, Tom of Ballinger and R. W. of Lubbock; a step-daughter, Mrs. W. E. Middleton of Ballinger; and two brothers, W. A. and J. F. of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be Wilson, Fred, and W. O. Middleton, and Eldred Tinsley, all grandsons of McEntire, Layton Hill and Henry Moody.

Walter McEntire was a first cousin of Christopher Hinkle (her first husband) and of Jennie Hinkle, my grandmother. After her second marriage my father and his siblings referred to her and her husband as Aunt Van and Cousin Walter. -- Neal Parker
