"Isabelle McCurdy, the eldest daughter of John and Elizabeth married Thomas Long, the son of Samuel Long. Thomas Long was the brother of James Long, who was the father of Crawford W. Long, the discoverer of anesthesia. Thomas and Isabelle resided in Madison County, and raised a large family of five sons and five daughters, whose names are: Joseph B, James, Thomas W, David, Henry J, Elizabeth, Anne, Sarah, Susan, and Mary."

DEATH:

Isabella W. Long, 64, died in December 1860 of dropsey (H. dropsey) having been ill for 2 years.

The death date on her tombstone (Find-a-Grave Memorial #19815121), November 15, 1859, is not consistent with the Mortality Schedule.
