On September 13, 1769 Francis Lockett of Dale Parish in Chesterfield Co. gives his sons James and Francis Lockett his Negro woman Amy and all her increase. (6/216)

James was alive in March 1800 when his father wrote his will. The Chesterfield Personal Property Tax List is available from 1786 onward, and James is never in it.
