McCurdy Pioneers of North America (Clyde W. McCurdy, Collegiate Press, Atlanta, Georgia, 1990), pg 87:
"Stephen McCurdy, the eldest son of John and Elizabeth was born in 1790. He married Delilah Wright circa 1812-1812, and moved to Tennessee soon after the marriage. Their first son Francis W, was born in Tennessee in 1814. Stephen and Delilah returned to Madison County, Georgia before 1820, and are listed in the Madison County Census of 1820, with three children. In the period circa 1822-1825, Stephen and Delilah moved to Newton County, Georgia. This area of Georgia had remained Indian territory, until the Creek Indian Cession of January 22, 1818 and January 8, 1821. In the 1830 Newton County Census, Stephen and Delilah have seven children. They were not found in the 1840 Census, and it is believed they moved to Murray County in 1847. The 1850 Murray County Census lists Delilah and six children in the household, five of whom were born after 1830. The names of the children that are known are: Francis W., John N., William Jasper, Susan A., Stephen Jr., Sarah J., Harriet and George T. The names of the four oldest daughters are not known at this time.
"The part of Murray County in which the family lived became Whitfield County in 1851."
[I cannot find Stephen McCurdy in Madison Co. in 1820.]
