Life Legacy

Elizabeth Judson Parker, age 73, left this world for the peace of the next on May 25, 2008, following a long determined fight against diabetes and kidney failure. Liz was born on December 5, 1934 in Anderson, Texas and was raised in Houston. A 1956 graduate of Rice University, she was one of the first women selected for the marching band. She was a retired school teacher, teaching in various school districts throughout Texas, ultimately retiring after teaching for 10 years in Durango, Mexico. She delighted in music, playing flute and piccolo in high school, the Houston Youth Symphony and college, later playing the piano and organ for her church throughout her life. She was conversant in numerous languages, including Spanish, German, Italian and French, all with a distinctive Texas flavor. A self described "bookaholic," she had a passion for reading a wide variety of topics, although she particularly loved science fiction as well as working crosswords and other puzzles. Her family and friends always appreciated her kind words and delicious sense of humor. She is survived by her four children, Rick Ellis and his wife Rebecca, John Ellis, Charles Ellis and his wife Elizabeth and Vicky Ellis, five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 2:00 pm, located at 2418 Brown St. in Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.
