5743-4. ix. DEA. PHINEHAS STRONG (son of Justice Joseph Strong of Coventry, Ct., and Sarah Allen) b. about 1704, m. Nov 5, 1724, Mary Parker (dau. of Dea. Thomas Parker of Coventry). She d. April 13, 1767. He was a farmer at Coventry: a member for fifty-three sessions, including extra ones of the General asssembly, having been thirty-eight times elected to the legislature: a selectman for six years, justice of the peace for many years, and for a long period a deacon of the church.

On page 310 in a list of all of the children of Justice Joseph Strong, Phinehas is the youngest child. He was born in 1714. The previous child was born July 16, 1713. It is stated that all of the children except Phinehas were born in Northampton. A birth year of 1714 cannot be correct because he married in 1724. There is documentary evidence for 7 children born in Northampton between 1701 and 1713. Phineas's tombstone says that he died 1 Mar 1788 in the 83rd year of his age. There does not seem to be any record in Northampton of Phinehas's birth.
