W. D. YOUNG, RANCHER, DIES AT BRIDGEPORT
BRIDGEPORT. Dec. 7.-- W. D. Young, 78, rancher, died at his home here this afternoon after an illness.
Known as "Uncle Dave," he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Asilee Bogy, Thrift, Texas; Mrs. Ollie Barnes, Vineyard, Texas, and Mrs. Elsie Pitts, Bridgeport.
Funeral services will be hold tomorrow at 2:30 p. m. at the residence.
DAVIS or DAVID?
The middle name on the death certificate is 'Davis', but Frances Bogy, the widow of Louis Bogy, a grandson of Dave Young, states the following in an e-mail message that she sent me December 8, 2009:
This is my opinion, the death certificate is a typed certified copy of the original which says the informant was Asilee Bogy and I know she would not have written "Davis." However, you know that someone else fills it out and she gave them the information. The person either misunderstood or something, the certificate also gives cause of death "intestinal influnz" and a contributing factor "sernality." His tombstone gives "W. D. Young," which could go either way; everyone in Bridgeport called him "Uncle Dave" or "Dave," which of course could be either way; we have numerous legal instruments that he signed as either "Dave Young" or " W. D.Young;" Asilee's daughter Virginia named a son David and he named one David; I know that all Louis' family believed it to be David; too, I have the Bible of Charles Young and it states that "William David Young was born August the 16th day, 1859." So, that is all I have but I do believe that it was David.
General Notes: Wife - Ada Lecy Reese
TWINS:
I have a photograph of Ada Lecy and her twin sister Alice made when they were more or less 40 years old. It shows clearly that they were identical. I do not know whether their half sisters Julia Ann and Lula Ann were identical or not.
