BETHABARA BAPTIST CHURCH:

On page 6 of the Minutes of the Bethabara Baptist Church in Laurens Co., SC (LDS microfilm 22728) Louis Ball Jun is the 104th entry in the list of male members. This list was probably created in 1805 and then later added on to. To the right of his name: "by Ex 22 May 1841 Dismissed 12 Oct 44".

May 22, 1841: "Rec'd Lewis Ball Jun and his wife Mary An Ball by Experience"

November 25, 1842: Lewis Ball Jun. was elected clerk.

January 13, 1844: "Brother Johnson stated that Brother Lewis Ball Jun had impressions that it was his duty to come forward in publick and labour for the good of his fellowman the Church after deliberation unanimously agreed that Brother Ball be allowed to exercise a publick gift in the bounds of this and sister churches"

September 5, 1844: "Took up reference of Granting a license to L Ball Jun. to Preach the Gospele Moved by Brother Richard Golding that License be granted which was agreed to."

October 12, 1844: "Brother Franklin Cook & wife Lewis Ball Jun & wife Sister Elizabeth Hitt all made application for letters of dismission, which were all granted."

"Rev. Lewis Ball, an active and efficient minister in Northwest Mississippi, was born in South Carolina in 1820, came to Mississippi and began to preach in 1844. His abundant labors have greatly advanced the cause of truth. By his labors the Sunflower Association was established. He was a Colonel in the Confederate Army."
