The father's name on the baptismal record is wrong, or it may be that the child is really the son of Thomas Withington rather than of James Withington. The child appears to have been baptized twice.

On December 28, 1842 Peter Piant became the guardian of Thomas and his sister Elizabeth. See probate notes under James Withinton.
