ARRIVAL IN ARKANSAS:

The birthplaces of the children suggest that the family moved to Arkansas between 1853 and 1858. Joshua Beckham is on the tax roll in Izard Co. for the first time in 1858. He owns no land. In 1859 he is absent, but in 1861 and subsequently he is a landowner. Tax rolls exist for 1848, 53, 58, 59, 61, 65, 66 for the period 1848-1866. It is reasonable to believe that they arrived about 1857, significantly later than William Hinkle, Henry Cole, and others.
