CAROLINE CO., VIRGINIA PERSONAL TAX LIST:

Personal tax records are available from 1783 onward. Thomas Carnal first appears in the Caroline Co. Personal Tax List in 1792 as a tithable greater than 16 in the household of Elizabeth Carnal, his widowed mother. If he became 16 in 1792, he was born about 1776. He is not is his mother's household in 1793 and has his own entry for the first time in 1794. He is in the tax list until 1800. He has no slaves and usually he has 1 horse. He is probably in the tax list in 1803, 1804, and in 1809, but the Thomas Carnal that we find there in those years might be someone else.

This Thomas Carnal is distinct from "Thomas Carnal, Jr.", who is a son of William Carnal, Jr.
