CAROLINE CO., VIRGINIA PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LIST:

Personal property tax records are available from 1783 onward. John Carnal first appears in the tax list in 1797 as a tithable greater than 16 in the household of William Carnal, Jr. If he became 16 in 1797 he was born about 1781. He remains in his father's household until 1800 and then from 1801 to 1811 he has his own entry. He has no slaves and after 1804 one horse. In 1811 he has 2 horses.
