BEDFORD CO., VIRGINIA PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LIST:
Robert W. Reese is in the Bedford Co., Virginia personal property tax list for the first time in 1816, and he it there continuously until 1829. He usually has one horse until 1824, when he has 4. In 1829 he has 3 and a stallion. The rate of covering is $8. The category 'horse' includes mules, and in 1829 he pays a tax of $.10 for each horse and $8.00 for the stallion. His total is $8.30. He is absent from the list in 1830, and in 1831 his name has been added at the end with no numbers. He probably moved from Virginia to Tennssee in about 1830, which may account for why he is absent from the 1830 census.
