KASKASKIA RECORDS:

The following is from Kaskaskia Records, 1778-1790 (Public domain; Google digitized) pg 393. Gabriel Aubuchon is the step-father of Joseph Dupuis's wife Françoise.

On October 17, 1786 Joseph Dupuis appears before the Judge of the Civil and Criminal Court of the village of Kaskaskia and states that he has the intention of leaving the village to earn his living in some other place, and since he was previously named guardian of the minors of the late M. Gabriel Aubuchon, he petitions the judge to grant him permission to convoke an assembly of the relatives and friends of the minors in order to proceed to the nomination of a replacement guardian.

On the same day, October 17, the judge orders that relatives, and in default thereof, some of the friends of said guardians[sic] assemble on the 19th of this month in order to find a new guardian to replace the petitioner.

General Notes: Wife - Françoise Crelis

Françoise was probably the oldest child. She married in May 1774. If she had been born in 1756, she would have been 18.

The following are from the parish records of Kaskaskia, Illinois (La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle), Marthe F. Beauregard, Vol 2):

26 Dec 1779 -- Françoise Crely, épouse de Dupuy, is a godmother.
27 Feb 1780 -- Françoise Crely, épouse de Joseph Dupuy, is the godmother of her niece Elisabeth Crely.
4 May 1784 -- Françoise Crely is a godmother.
