The death certificate of Mary Elizabeth Richardson, who died November 25, 1939 in Carroll Co., Tennessee says that the father of the deceased was Jas. David Porter, born in N. C., and that the mother was Mary Francis Downing, born in Tennessee.

The 1850 and 1860 censuses say that Frances was born in Tennessee, and the 1870 census says that she was born in Alabama.
