WHO WAS HIS FATHER?

Most of the sons of John Grinstead (1718-1791) married too late to be Jasper's father. Richard is the best candidate. Jesse is a possibility. In the 1800 census in Louisa Co. Richard appears to have 4 sons.

DATABASE 'lesanne17' in WORLDCONNECT:

JASPER, b. ca.1782, married Jemima Gooch in Louisa County, Virginia on December 23, 1802. They moved to Bedford County, Tennessee and then at a later date to Montgomery County, Tennessee. If Jasper was of age when he married Jemima he would have been born in 1781. In Louisa County, Va. Deed Book W, page 67 under the date of August 15, 1837 there is listed the transfer, for $500, of a tract of 122 acres to John West of Louisa County, Virginia by Jasper Grinstead and Jemima, his wife, of Montgomery County, Tennessee.
