Rebecca is the granddaughter of Jonathan Jones who is mentioned in his 1835 will. We know that her surname is 'Jones' because the death certificate of her son John K. Gill, who was born 13 Jan 1841 in Cedar Grove, Tennessee and died 12 Jan 1930, states that his father was Robert M. Gill born in South Carolina and that his mother was Rebecca Jones born in South Carolina. The only plausible candidate for Rebecca's father is Jonathan's son James Jones.
