The birth date of James Jones is in his mother's application for a pension. See notes under his father. James is not mentioned in the 1835 will of his father Jonathan Jones, which indicates that James had died by 1835. He is the only plausible father for Jonathan's granddaughter Rebecca, who is mentioned in the will. She was born 14 Mar 1818. She married Robert M. Gill and lived for many years in Carroll Co., Tennessee around numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
