STATE OF TENNESSEE CERTIFICATE OF DEATH:

General Notes: Wife - Samantha E. Hinkle

STATE OF TENNESSEE CERTIFICATE OF DEATH:

Samathy Timmons, female, white, widow
Died Apr 8, 1926 in Paris, Henry Co.
Born June 8, 1848 in Tennessee
Father: Walter Hinkle born in Tennessee
Mother: unknown
Informant: O. J. Timmons, Paris, Tn
Burial: Rataree Cemetery, April 9, 1926

It may be that he informant was confused about the father's first name. There is no Walter Hinkle in Tennessee in the 1850 census. Or it may be that Samantha was an orphan taken in by Jonathan.

MARRIAGE:

The 1900 census indicates that she has been married for 29 years. Thus she married James Timmons in about 1871. In the 1880 census he has a stepson who is 15 years old. That suggests that Samantha may have been married earlier to someone else who died between 1865 and 1871.
