On November 1, 1771 Thomas Lord Fairfax leased to Joseph Hitt a tract of 158 acres in Fauquier Co. "for & during the natural life of him the said Joseph & for and during the natural Lives of Mary his wife & Elisha his son & every of them longest Living". (Fauquier Co. Deed Records 4/403)

It is likely that Elisha was the youngest son of Joseph and Mary and hence the one expected to live the longest. Elisha may be the second male over 16 in the 1790 census entry for Joseph. Nothing more is known about him.
