PATENT:

On June 2, 1636 400 acres of land in Henrico Co. were patented to Edward Osborne. This patent is the first granted in Henrico Co. to anyone in the Osborne family. We don't really know who this Edward Osborne was. See notes under Thomas Osborne II ('Relationships').

To all to whome these p'sents shall come I Cap't John West Esq Govenor etc send greeting etc _______ by ______ etc Now Know yee that I the said Cap't John West Esq. doo w'th the consent of the Counsell of State accordingly give and grannt unto Edward Osborne gent. fower hundred acres of land situate lying and being in the County of Henrico Joyning upon a swamp called the great Swamp Southerly Westerly upon the maine river Northerly up towards the falls and Easterly into the maine woods The said fower hundred acres of land ____ing due unto him the said Edward Osborne as followeth Vizt fifhe acres for his owne p'sonall Adventure and three hundred and fifhe acres by and for the transportaton at his owne ____ costs and charges of Seaven p'sons into this Colony whose names are in the records mentoned under this Pattent To have and to hold etc dated the second day of June 1636 __ _____
