Parker in America, page 537 (corrected version; see below):

PHINEAS (3) [James(2), James(1)] res. in Groton. His boyhood had its tragedy. Both of his parents were butchered by Indians when he was but a few years old and on the same occasion he was carried into captivity and held by the savages until ransomed four years later. He was, it was said, ever after lame from injuries received at the hands of his captors. He m. (1) Abigail , who d. Feb. 4, 172--. She was doubtless Abigail Scripture, b. Jan. 28, 1686-7, dau. of Samuel and Elizabeth Scripture. This opinion is based on Middlesex deeds, three in number, pages 155, 156, and 157 of vol. 21. It is a series of Scripture deeds, and by the last thereof, Phineas Parker and Eleazer Lawrence (who probably m. Mary Scripture, sis. of Abigail) convey the homestead of Samuel Scripture to his son Samuel on the condition that they should never be at any expense for the support of Samuel, Sr., or his w. TYPESETTING:

The following two statements are at the beginning of the version of Parker in America at http://jenningsweb.us/ParkerInAmerica.html:

Modified 10 Nov 2001 because comparison to the original Boston Transcript notes revealed typesetting errors in Parker in America. A large block of lines of text were misplaced which grossly distorted the information for the JAMES(1) line.

Also on 10 Nov 2001, additional comments found in the Boston Transcript were inserted to modify or clarify various items. These comments are enclosed in braces " " in this text.

In the facsimile version of Parker in America, which can be seen at

http://www.archive.org/stream/parkerinamerica100park#page/536/mode/2up/search/PHINEAS+(3)

you can see in the description of Phineas the typesetting error mentioned above.

BIRTH DATE:

According to his tombstone, Phineas died 13 Aug 1744 in his 63rd year. Thus he was born between 13 Aug 1680 and 13 Aug 1681. That is, however, very unlikely if the birth dates of Mary (21 Sep 1680) and James (22 Sep 1682) are correct. For the sake of even spacing I am going to opt for 1684. It's just a guess.

Find-a-Grave Memorial #47209039:

The son of JAMES and MARY (PARKER) PARKER. His father and mother were killed by the Indians, in their assault on the town, July 27, 1694; he was captured at the same time, and held a prisoner during four years. He was released, probably in the summer of 1698; and a petition to the General Court, dated May 31, 1699, represents him as being "lame of one of his Leggs occasioned by ye cruelty of ye Salvages," and says that "it is very questionable whether ever he will be cured, & has little or nothing left him of his Fathers estate for his support."

In answer to this petition, it was voted that six pounds of money be allowed out of the public treasury.
