MARRIAGE:

The marriage record on page 155 of Births, Marriages, Baptisms and Deaths from the Records of the Town and Churches in Coventry, Connecticut 1711-1844 by Susan Whitney Dimock is from town records and gives the bride's name only as 'Experience'. She is probably Experience Root, who was born January 18, 1703. Below the birth record for Experience on page 99 is the comment "What is above written was taken out of the Records from Northampton". That comment appears to apply to 9 children with surname Root born sequentially from July 1692 to September 1707 followed by Ephraim Root born December 1709, presumably in Coventry.

Samuel's sister Mercy married Samuel Root.

Northampton is Northampton, Massachusetts.

NEW STYLE or OLD STYLE?

In the town records of Coventry, Connecticut, as recorded on page 87 in the book by Dimock, Ephraim, the first child of Samuel, Jr. and Experience Parker, is said to have been born March 3, 1727 and Hannah, the second child, was born April 20, 1728. The year of Hannah's birth is unambiguous. The year of Ephraim's birth has to be New Style in order not to conflict with the birth date of Hannah. Samuel and Experience were married March 24, 1726 according to Dimock. That date also has to be New Style in order not to conflict with the birth date of the first child.
