General Notes: Wife - Marie Françoise Bienvenu dit Delisle

The following are from the parish records of Kaskaskia, Illinois ("La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle)", Marthe F. Beauregard, Vol 2):

3 Jun 1767 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle and Louis Brazot are godparents to a slave.
18 Jun 1768 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle is a godmother.
22 Jun 1768 -- Françoise Brazot is the godmother of her first cousin Joseph Delisle.
27 Mar 1772 -- Françoise Delisle is a godmother.
23 Mar 1774 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle is a godmother.
21 Aug 1774 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle is a godmother.
2 Nov 1775 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle, fille is a godmother (Louis Chamberland).
2 Nov 1775 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle, fille and Louis Brazot are godparents (Louis Lemieux).
8 Dec 1785 -- Marie-Françoise Delisle is the godmother of her nephew Alexis Delisle.

She may have been relatively old when she married. She had 5 children over 11 years. She and her future husband were jointly godparents 9 years before they married.

In the above entries she is referred to as Marie-Françoise or Françoise. In the next two she is referred to as Marie. The 6 entries after those two refer to 'Marie'.

18 May 1779 -- Thérèse and Marie Delisle, cousines germaines, witness the wedding of Elisabeth Bienvenu Delisle and Jean-Bte Crely. They are first cousins to Elisabeth.
27 Jul 1780 -- Marie Delisle, épouse de Louis Brazeau, is a godmother.

18 Oct 1772 -- Dlle Marie Delisle is a godmother.
26 Nov 1774 -- Dlle Marie Delisle is a godmother.
2 Feb 1775 -- Marie Delisle is the godmother of a slave.
13 Apr 1775 -- Marie Delisle is a godmother.
10 Jun 1776 -- Marie Delisle witnesses a wedding.
12 Dec 1786 -- Marie Delisle is a godmother.

In the baptismal record of two of her children (Louis, Thérèse) Marie Françoise Delisle, wife of Louis Brazeau, is referred to as 'Marie Delisle', and on 27 Jul 1780 and on 18 May 1779 she is referred to as 'Marie Delisle'. I think that it is likely that all of the above references to 'Marie Delisle' refer to Marie Françoise, but some might refer to her sister Marie Thérèse.
