General Notes: Husband - Charles Bienvenu dit Delisle

Charles Bienvenu was relatively old when he married (35), but he married a much younger woman, and he had 12 children. He was 62 when his youngest child was born.

KASKASKIA:

The following are from the parish records of Kaskaskia, Illinois ("La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle)", Marthe F. Beauregard, Vol 2):

4 Jun 1761 -- Charles Delisle and Marianne Vincennes, widow of Mr. Delisle, are godparents.
27 Aug 1762 -- Charles Delisle is godfather to a slave belonging to "la veuve Delisle".
27 Mar 1767 -- Charles Delisle and Charlotte Marchand, widow of Sieur Lalande, are godparents.
12 Aug 1772 -- Charles Bienvenu-Delisle is a witness to a wedding.
17 Sep 1772 -- Charles Bienvenu-Delisle is a witness to a wedding.
8 Nov 1774 -- Charles Delisle is a witness at a wedding.
20 Apr 1778 -- two slaves belonging to Sr Charles Bienvenu marry.
10 Mar 1781 -- Charles Bienvenu-Delisle is godfather to his granddaughter Françoise Antaya-Pelletier.
7 May 1784 -- Charles Bienvenu is a godfather.
23 Feb 1786 -- Charles Delisle is a godfather.

MARRIAGE DATE:

The marriage record in Beauregard ("La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle)") says that he was married June 2, 1769, but that is not plausible. Belting ("Kaskaskia under the French Regime") says on page 63 that he was married June 2, 1760, which is reasonable. On page 85 she says June 2, 1759.

ANOTHER CHARLES DELISLE:

There was another Charles Delisle in Kaskaskia. Charles M. Delisle married Magdeleine Barsalou April 18, 1785 at which time their two children Thérèse and François were made legitimate. Later they had a third child Cécile.

BELTING:

"Kaskaskia under the French Regime" by Natalia Belting, pg 63:

"Charles Bienvenu dit Delisle, roofer, Kaskaskia, 1760 -- son of François Bienvenu dit Delisle and Marianne le Moine, of Detroit, where he was born. Husband of Elisabeth Lalande, whom he married June 2, 1760. In 1757, Kerlerec asked the ministry for a sword for Sieur Delisle, "habitant notable," who contributed much to the success of the expedition to Fort Duquesne."

General Notes: Wife - Elisabeth Guillemot dit Lalande

On November 8, 1768 Elisabeth Lalande, wife of Charles Delisle, is a godmother in Kaskaskia, Illinois (La population des forts français d'Amérique (XVIIIe siècle), Marthe F. Beauregard, Vol 2).

BIRTH YEAR:

She had children over a period of about 25 years. That is close to the maximum period of time in which a woman can have children. If she was 44 when her last child was born in 1786, she was born about 1742. 44 is close to the maximum age at which a woman can have a child. She was thus about 17 when she married.
