After Samson Tilson's death in 1870 Hannah married Claiburn M. Byars, a widower with 6 children. When Claiburn passed away in 1897 Hannah went on to live with extended family members of the Grinsteads until her death in 1921. Although Hannah helped raise Claiburn's children and others she never had any children of her own.
