TENNESSEE to ARKANSAS:

In a biographical sketch of her great-grandfather Alfred Collins, Wanda Collins Richardson says on page 933 of Washington County History, published in 1989, the following:

"Alfred's second marriage, 11 October 1855, was to Amanda Henry (1836-1899, daughter of Hyram, born 1804 and Delila Harwood Henry, born 1800). They lived on a farm next to his father and his brother, Pinkney, on the west side of the Tennessee River near Washington, Tennessee. It was on this farm that seven children were born to Alfred and Amanda, two died while very young. During this period of time Alfred served with the Confederate Cavalry, Carter's Tennessee Volunteers, later drawing a pension while living in Arkansas.
In 1869 the "fever" was raging along the Tennessee River and the family decided to move to Arkansas. Amanda had been ill, was so weak that she had to be carried aboard the boat on a stretcher for the start of their journey. They traveled up the river, then west and over the mountain, staying the first winter in Madison County, Arkansas. In the spring of 1870 the family moved on to Washington County, settling on Trace Branch in the Middle Fork Valley . . ."

DEATH:

His dates at Find-a-Grave are 8 Nov 1823 -- 1903. "1823 - 1892" is on his tombstone. He is in the 1900 census.
