In 1850 and later the number after a person's name indicates his age in the indicated census year. The parenthesized numbers in previous columns represent real ages to be compared with the age categories that appear in the census. Riley's age is just a guess.
BROTHERS?
The evidence that William, Martin and Thomas Collins are brothers is not particularly strong. See notes under Thomas' son Joshua for the argument.
WIFE:
In 1830 and in 1840 in Bedford Co., Tennessee Martin Collins and Hezekiah Brown are living near each other. Then in 1860 they are living near each other in Washington Co., Arkansas. Hezekiah's eldest son Jesse named one of his sons Martin Collins Brown. It seems likely that Martin's wife Charity was a daughter of Hezekiah Brown.
LAND IN ARKANSAS:
On February 1, 1860 a 40 acre tract (NESW, Section 8, T17NR31W) in Washington Co. was patented to Martin Collins. On October 1, 1860 a contiguous 80 acre tract (SWNW and NWSW, Section 8, T17NR31W) was patented to him.
