Matthew Donovan is the only Donovan in the census in Washington Co., Virginia in 1810 and is thus a reasonable candidate for the father of Catharine Donovan, who married Edward Grinstead there in 1810.

This is probably the Mathew Dunnevan (11100 -- 1 male > 16, 1 male < 16, 1 female; no slaves) in Rowan Co., North Carolina in 1790. The death certificate of Jasper N. Grinstead, a son of Catharine Donovan and Edward Walton Grinstead, says that his mother was born in Roan Co., North Carolina.
