In 1860 Andrew Emerson (15, Tn, Farm laborer) is living in Wayne Co., Tennessee in the household of his uncle J. J. Downing.
In 1870 A. D. Emersen (24, Tn, $---/$500, Ret Dry Goods Clk) is living in Gibson Co., Tennessee in the household of M. B. Harris (34, physician).
He does not seem to be in the 1880 census.
In 1900 A. D. Emmerson (54, Nov 1845, Tn NC NC, Contractor R R) is living in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto Co., Texas as a boarder in the household of J. A. Rutledge (29, day laborer).
In 1907 Andrew D. Emerson is in the Mineral Wells City Directory. He lives at 315 S. Lambert.
He does not seem to be in the 1910 census. He probably died between 1907 and 1910.
MIDDLE NAME:
It is highly likely that his middle name was 'Downing'. His mother was Ann Downing. He had a nephew (son of Benjamin H. Emerson) whose name was Andrew Downing Emerson. See Find-a-Grave Memorial # 34758086.
