OBITUARY:

THE CLAYTON NEWS, Thursday, July 21, 1927:

"Big Spring News"

We were shocked to hear of the sudden death of the little Grimes boy. We extend our sympathy to the Grimes family.

I found no other mention of his death in the local newspaper. I assume Big Spring is a small community in the county. I do not know its significance. It was clear from the newspaper that there was a polio epidemic in the county. "M. E. Church South: all services were dismissed last Sunday on account of quarantine." (July 21) On Wednesday, July 20 4 children showing definite paralytic symptoms were quarantined in Clayton. There was one case in the country. Six or 7 children were isolated and under observation until a diagnosis could be made.
